This thesis explores the "多/少 + N" structure. Guided by the three-plane-theory, comprehensive descriptions and analyses have been conducted from variant perspectives, trying to combine form with meaning, static investigation with dynamic study, description with illustration. The thesis consists of five parts:Part one analyzes the structure of "多/少 + N" from the perspective of syntax. It shows that there are three structural types: noun primary-and-secondary structure , verb-object structure, or the two. It can be determined by replacing meaning or the function of grammar. The structure of "多/少 + N" mainly serves as subject, predicate or attribute in the syntax function.Part two investigates the "多/少 + N" structure from the perspective of verbal meaning. It is found that the whole verbal meaning of "多/少 + N" possesses the additional color and morphology character, in which the "多/少" is statically descriptive and uncontrollable, dynamically changeful and variational with some quantitative character. Moreover the categories of "N" in the "多/少 + N" structure have been summarized.Part three explores the "^/^1> + N" structure from the perspective of historical appearance. It is believed the" ^ / yJ> + N" structure was be used frequently in the ancientperiods. The noun primary-and-secondary structure was be used earlier than the ver-hr-object structure. It comes with a new discovery result that the "^ + N" structure appeared first in the classical book "ShangShu" , while the "4> + N" structure first appeared in "GuoYu" .Part four examines the asymmetry phenomenon between the"^+ N" and "4> + N" structure. It is believed that the asymmetry between the "^ + N" and "'J? + Nw structure is mainly caused by the different awareness level, emergence time and use frequency.Part five studies the "^/^i> + N" structure from the perspective of language use. It appears that the "^/^ + N" structure is mostly used in formal communication writing language, its value in language use is mainly an embodiment in the emotional expressions.
