The dissertation describe and explain unbalance of verbal subject sentences and verbal object sentences in syntax, semantic, pragmatic, chapter and cognitive construe with the academic idea that different form, different significance. The dissertation comprises eight chapters, and five chapters are core parts in it.Chapterâ… is an introduction, which introduces the research objects, research purpose, research methods and significance of the research, as well as explains the corpus sources and structural arrangements.Chapterâ…¡is a summary. It simply reviews two discussions about verbal components as subjects and objects. Firstly, it reviews the realization of "nominalization" in different grammar schools in China. Secondly, it simply analyzes shortages and emergent problems to solve in nominalization research. Thirdly, it simply reviews the discussion about criteria of Chinese part of speech and analyzes new problems in research on criteria of part of speech recently.Chapterâ…¢explores the asymmetry phenomena of syntactic function in verbal subjects and verbal objects, mainly examining a collocation function, a sentence constraint and a frequency. The results show that, from collocation function, the predicate of verbal subject sentences can be structure of verb, adjective and noun, also can be clause; otherwise, the predicate of verbal object sentences only can be mental verb, speech verb, auxiliary, form verb, circulates verb and weak action verb etc. From the constraints of sentence, special sentences of verbal subjects and verbal objects are different. The "VP+AP" middle constructions and "V+O+V+C" verb copy sentence both are special sentences of verbal subject sentences. From frequency, the frequency of verbal object is far more than verbal subject. The constraints of semantic roles of subject & object, the semantic type of predicate and the stipulation of verbal subject sentences and verbal object sentences constructions are the semantic motivations that make asymmetry phenomena of syntactic function in verbal subjects and verbal objects.Chapterâ…£researches asymmetry phenomena of semantic features in verbal subjects and verbal objects from volition, things, nominalization and declarative. The results show that, volition, things, nominalization and declarative of verbal subject is higher than verbal object, "nominalization-declarative" is the most important difference between meaning of different predicates on the location of subject and object. If verb and adjective appears in the location of subject and object, it will be some degree nominalization. Usually called declarative subject and object is also nominalization, just not typical.Chapterâ…¤researches the effects caused by the typicality of verb to verb as subjects and objects from action, transitivity, variability and boundedness. The results reveal the more typicality of verb owns, the more difficulty as subjects and objects; then researches the effects caused by the typicality of adjective to adjective as subjects and objects from degree, continuity and constant. Rather, the results reveal the more typicality of adjective owns, the easier as subjects and objects. The factors that constraints the opposite tendency of typical verbs and typical adjectives using as subject and object are the semantic characteristics and the function of "proximity principle".Chapterâ…¥researches asymmetry phenomena of pragmatic and chapter function in verbal subjects and verbal objects, including text function, information characteristic, freedom degree, mark word and rhetorical effect etc. The results show that, verbal subjects are topic, verbal objects are focus; the verbal subjects are focus of topic, also are focus of comparison in parallel structure, but verbal objects are natural focus; verbal subjects are based on anaphora, but verbal objects are based on the following reference; verbal subjects can be marked by modal, pronouns and speech pause, but verbal objects are marked by quantifier; the degrees of freedom of verbal subjects are higher than verbal objects; the frequency of verbal subjects are lower than verbal objects.Chapterâ…¦searches asymmetry phenomena of cognitive mechanism in verbal subjects and verbal objects. It firstly research cognitive mechanism which produce nominalization. The results show that, the concept materialized is cognitive mechanism producing nominalization phenomena. Predicate components as subjects and objects possess reference. The formation of action images of referential verb and qualitative images of qualitative adjective is the result of overall scanning. Syntactic position theory helps us understand the correspondence between part of speech and sentence elements. When they appear in the position of subjects and objects, verb and adjective deviate their typical syntactic position, so syntactic function weakens even loses; meanwhile, when verb and adjective fill the position of subjects and objects, it will give verb and adjective special syntactic forms, then they will get some atypical syntactic forms, which don't possessed by other members in this part of speech. Verbal subject sentences and verbal object sentences are two different constructions, for short, the emergent meaning of verbal subject sentences is "conclude, review, commentary", the emergent meaning of verbal object sentences is "express a proposition".Chapterâ…§is the end of the dissertation. Firstly, it summarizes basic work and basic conclusion. Then, it indicates some problems need more in-deep research and the plan in the future.
