Study on literary works requires considerations of their authors ideology, which exerts so massive an impact on the creation of the work .Without exception, researches on "Informal History of the Scholars", renowned as "a novel bya thinker", can not be separated from the discussion on Wu JingZi, the author'sideology, which appears profound and complicated owing to the influences ofChinese traditional culture and the thinking trend of that time. This paper, initially, carries out an analysis on there main factorsConfucius, the vogue in the six Dynasties of Wei Jin, and thoughts of thepragmatic school popular in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which jointly play acrucial role in Wu's ideology. First as the essence of our traditionalculture ,Confucius ,an ideological system ,with "Li"(ritual)& "Ren" at thecore ,and "loyalty to supenors", "frlial piety to parents" "respect forthe elder brother" and "sympathy to others" as its main contents , determinesthe formation of Wu's out look on life . In addition, the carefree andunrestrained attitude towards life of the scholars in the Six dynasties, compatible with Wu's bold disposition, should also be taken as an influencialfactor .And there is no doubt that the thoughts of the Pragmatic school do alsohave an effect on Wu's ideology formation, for it's impossible for anyone toowoid the information of the main thinking trend in his own time .These there intertwined factors lead to the complexity of Wu's ideology, whose expression can be found in Wu's Confucius-oriented value and hiscontradictory attitudes towards whether to take up an official post. Theseattitudes, in turn, affect the creation of the novel-Informal History of Scholars,in which there are confucianist scholars, who adhere to Ren, Li, etc. carefreerecluse bold in disposition, and the low-level officials advocating pragmatism. In this novel, Wu exalts the positive characters and criticizes the negativeones .Besides, Wu also demonstrate his aspirations for ideal figures, with boththe Confucius character as well as the carefree disposition of the Daoist, andan ideal society which appears illusory due to its being divorced from reality.
