Confucius Thoughts Researching Of American Scholars

Along with the China and the West culture exchange, more and more abroad scholars start to take a broad view on the Chinese literature and the culture. Confucius was the greatest thinker and the educationalist in ancient China. Nowadays, our domestic scholars have got many accomplishments about Confucius' thoughts. But meanwhile, our research has also got in to some difficult circumstances. It is so difficult to exceed the predecessors' success. Learning from others, may get out of the dilemma. The overseas Sinology research actually has provided a very good viewpoint for us. Although American research about Confucius starts a little bit late, but has reached a higher academic standard. Before World War II, the American main Sinology researchers come from England, but the American thought researches are so different to other countries. Most early American scholars who began to do the research about pre-Qin have some philosophy backgrounds. After World War II, the American Sinologist had got the considerable progress to the Chinese thought research and formed their special inquiry way, which later became their research tradition.Therefore, My article tries to take "the American scholars' research about Confucius thought " as a topic, and introduces studies of the American scholar, especially the achievement of several representative scholars'. Hope to provide us a new way to study Confucius thoughts. This not only benefits to the further development of research, moreover to urge the academic exchange, and to make Chinese culture adequately spread abroad.Firstly, my article explains some basic situation in foreword part. In the first chapter, summarize the American scholars' studies about Confucius. And then in the second chapter carefully analysis and the problems American scholars focus, including Confucius' politics, education, philosophy thoughts and so on. In Third chapter, I try to emphasis several representative scholars and analysis their research characteristic and the research technique. On this foundation, in last chapter, I find some research commonness of representative scholars and discuss future prospects for developing this research field.
