Recognizing The Soft Sculpture Art From The Development Of Sculpture Material

Soft sculpture, possessing every characteristic of sculpture art, has been welcomed byModern Fiber Art, while been refused by sculpture art. Of all these facts lead to people'smisunderstanding on "soft sculpture". So many things were called as soft sculpture, evenincluding soft furniture , rag dolls, folk artists' works, etc.Then, what is soft sculpture indeed? How to define soft sculpture in Sculpture Art?Soft sculpture was first appeared in the middle of 20th century. For some reasons, itwas well regarded by modern fiber art, while disregarded by sculpture art. So, the firststep of my thesis is to focus the research time on the middle of 20th century. By studyingthe environments of soft sculpture's emergence, I try to find out the reason of thedifferent attitude towards soft sculpture between sculpture art and modern fiber art. Byanalyzing the truth, I was prepared for defining soft sculpture.The second step is to study the definition of sculpture, which can make sure whetheror not soft sculpture is a part of sculpture art. Then, I study the development of sculpturematerial. By the researches I did, I find that, as a kind of sculpture material, soft materialexisting possibly and necessarily. At last, I try to define soft sculpture theoretically.Finally, by studying the soft sculpture's development in contemporary China, I amlonging for a wonderful future of it.
