Las Vegas, Nevada, is located in the southwest of U.S.A. However, part of the reason of gambling for the neglect lies in the tendency of many scholars have dismissed Las Vegas as an anomaly, Las Vegas has been absent. from much of urban studies for a long time. But the urbanization of Las Vegas is worthy of study, Although share the common context with many west city, Las Vegas did not take the usual way.The materials of this article is arranged in three parts. The first chapter is about the history of Las Vegas and its suburbs. The completion of the main railway in 1905, established Las Vegas as a railroad town. In 1930s,the construction of Hoover Dam and legalization of gambling change the face of Las Vegas, Las Vegas began to develop resort industry. After World War II ,defense and resort industry dominated the booming of the city. Since 1970s, a period of unprecedented growth began, especially in the Strip. By now, Las Vegas has been the nation's fastest growning region and the entertainment of the world. Part 2 , Resort based upon casino gambling is the main themes of this part. Besides having some research on the special Las Vegas Style, it is my hope that this volume will find gerneral regulation in the Las Vegas historical development. Growing pains is the content of the chapter III.In addition, this article projection into the future of the tourist-based economy of Las Vegas.This work has systematically traced the historical development of Las Vegas and the reason of Las Vegas Style. The conclusion is that Las Vegas is a resort city based upon casino gambling. Meanwhile, Las Vegas is not a aberration, it has exhibited general tendencies found in urbanization of other American city.
