Positive psychology is becoming a new trend. Subject well-being (SWB) is a focus of research in positive psychology. At present, the studies of SWB has developed to the third stage, i.e., adopting multiple measures to explore the underlying process of SWB. Under this background, this paper uses both the measures of implicit social cognition and self-report measures to explore the underlying process by comparing these two kinds of measures. Besides, this paper examines the influence of self-esteem and self-concept on SWB with the approach of implicit social cognition. The main findings show that:(1) Self-esteem consists of dual components which involve an implicit component, i.e., implicit self-esteem, and an explicit component, i.e., explicit self-esteem, in Chinese culture.(2) There is no significant gender difference in both implicit and explicit components of self-esteem.(3) SWB is shown a model of dual components which involve an implicit component, i.e., implicit SWB, and an explicit component, i.e., explicit SWB, in Chinese culture.(4) There is no significant gender difference in both implicit and explicit components of self-esteem.(5) Self-concept is also shown a model of dual components which involve an implicit level, where there is an ideal self as opposed to actual self, and an explicit level where there is also an ideal self as opposed to actual self.(6) There is no significant gender difference shown in the gap between actual self and ideal self. Both genders show that the evaluation of ideal self is higherthan that of actual self.(7) The model of self-esteem predicting SWB shows that explicit self-esteem can only predict explicit SWB while implicit self-esteem can predict both the explicit and implicit SWB.(8) The model of self-concept predicting SWB shows that explicit self-concept can only predict the explicit SWB while implicit self-concept can only predict the implicit SWB.(9) Explicit SWB is not influenced by self-monitor, while the implicit component, i.e., IAT4 on the satisfaction of life, is. The level of implicit SWB of individuals with high self-monitor is higher than that of individuals with low self-monitor.(10) The model of the self-monitor's role in the prediction of self-esteem on SWB shows that explicit self-esteem can directly predict explicit SWB and indirectly predict implicit SWB by the mediation of self-monitor while implicit self-esteem can directly predict both the explicit self-esteem and implicit self-esteem.(11) The integrated model of both self-esteem and self-concept predicting SWB shows that explicit self-esteem can only predict explicit SWB while implicit self-esteem can predict both the explicit and implicit SWB; explicit self-concept can only predict the explicit SWB while implicit self-concept can only predict the implicit SWB.
