On Zhangjian's Prose

ZhangJian (1853-1926 ), was one of the pioneers of advancing the modernization of China. After the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, he shamed Chinese impoverished and weak situation, stirmly gave up official careers which common people can't get easily. He advocated the industry and education to save his nation,and obtained great achievements. Moreover,he also made high achievements in literature, His prose followed his era closely, filled with the quintessence of the Confucianists' ethics, and made very high artistic achievements.This article not only discusses the theme and the reasons of ZhangJian's prose, but also analyzes their artistic character.
