| Combined with practical language materials, this article, first of all, describes thoroughly all kinds of syntax and semantics of the verb-copying clause, inspects their distribution in language materials and analyzes four factors(the refusal separation of verb-object, striving for object-compliment the degree merging of verb-compliment and semantic-orientation)which restrict the verb-copying clause from syntax and semantics. Secondly, expounds some pragmatic characteristics of the verb-copying clause. Such as focus, supernormality etc. Finally, reveals the characteristics of language environment and regularity how to use the verb-copying clause and attempts to explain initially the reason why the verb-copying clause is inclined to be used in spoken and dialogues. According to the article, various verb-copying clause have disequilibrium when used in concrete situations. Of all the one which is marked Dei is used most frequently, the one which has a semantic-oriental subject has the strongest stability. The main cause is that each has different restrictive conditions. In these factors which restrict the verb-copying clause, the semantic-orientation plays a decisive part and controls the others. the verb-copying clause is mainly used in the causal sentences which have causal compounds, basic pragmatic regularity is inclined to express the causal explanations in spoken language and dialogues in order to provide necessary background information for the receivers. |
