The Verb-copying sentence in Modern Chinese is a unique sentence, it loads largeamount of information by a compact and concise form, fully reflects the economiccharacteristics of language. It has a high frequency of use in everyday spoken and spokencolor darker works, and plays a unique role in verbal communication. Therefore, inculturing Chinese communicative competence as the main purpose of foreign languageteaching, the Verb-copying sentence teaching can not be ignored. Under the guidance ofthe three planes of grammatical theory, this article froms the students’ bias conditions inthe actual use of the Verb-copying sentence, detailedly studies the syntactic and semanticfeatures and pragmatic function of the Verb-copying sentence, and expresses some viewson the teaching of it.Thesis’s introduction section defines the Verb-copying sentence connotation. Itreviews the studies done and confirms the previous findings. It also points out theinadequacies of the previous studies which we take as the focus of this article. Thenproposes the significance of the text, and illustrates the operational theoretical basis,research methods and corpus source.The first part of the paper body, first, divides the Verb-copying sentence’s formcategories from the marked point of departure and makes a detailed description. Second,analyses the Verb-copying sentence’s semantic features followed by its two dynamicnuclear structure’s semantic relations, and summed up in two categories and sixsubclasses. Third, investigates the syntactic and semantic constraints which constitutingthe Verb-copying sentence’s verb composition from two aspects of the category andsemantic features of verb composition.The second part of the paper body comprehensively analyses the Verb-copyingsentence’s pragmatic functions from itself and its operational characteristics in thecontext, and then points out that the Verb-copying sentence itself has statementprescriptive pragmatics characteristics, and tends to appear in the discourse of causality.The article also compares the Verb-copying sentence with the "Ba" Construction, andpoints out the pragmatic functions’ differences in both their own and the specific context. Thus further explain the conditions of use and pragmatic rules of the Verb-copyingsentence.The third part of the paper body investigates the situation of the Verb-copyingsentence in some textbooks of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and points out thatthe Verb-copying sentence should be included in teaching Chinese as a foreign languageas a specialized knowledge of grammar points. The article also investigates the studentsabroad’ situation of mastering the Verb-copying sentence through a questionnaire survey,and summarizes the use characteristics of the Verb-copying sentence and the biascharacteristics of the students abroad with different level of Chinese. Then makes asummary and analysis of the types and causes of bias. On this basis, the text explores theteaching methods of the Verb-copying sentence, and advocates the phased teaching thatresponding to a combination of syntactic structures, semantic features and pragmaticfunctions which taken the Verb-copying sentence from easy to difficult, from simple tocomplex. And then describes the specific order of teaching and classroom teachingmethods.Paper’s conclusion section summarizes the full text content, and illustrates theinnovations and shortcomings of this dissertation. |
