The nominal predicate sentences serve as an important part in the modern Chinese sentence pattern system. In the past, the scholars classified them into several sub-groups according to the pragmatic type, but didn't explore the qualification of their formation. In terms of the relationship between the syntactic position of the predicate and the stating function, we think that only nouns with the function of statement can be placed in the position of the predicates. On the basis of lots of language materials, this paper describes some common patterns of nominal predicate sentences and induces three types of the stating meaning of the nouns which act as predicates: first, the potential stating meaning of the nouns themselves; second, the stating meaning acquired through adding some forms; third, the stating meaning brought to the predicate nouns by some special sentence patterns. This essay can be divided into five parts. The first part is the preface, introducing the basic thought and theory generally. The second part aims to discuss the nominal predicate sentence composed of the nouns with stating meaning itself, which mainly composed two types: with turn meaning or with nature meaning. We also discussed the characteristics of the stating meaning and some relevant questions. The third part is about the nominal predicate sentence formed through adding other words before the nouns. It discusses the predicates with the structure of "adj + noun", "quantifier + noun"and "adv + noun", and the functions of predication, focusing and limitation. The fourth part discusses the stating meaning of the predicate noun brought by special sentence patterns are put into discussion: two-quantifier structure, "满+ position noun +predicate noun"and exemplification pattern. The fifth part is the conclusion. Through the previous description towards the various types of nominal predicate sentences, it indicates the qualification of the formation of the nominal predicate sentences and also explains some basic problems relevant to them.
