| To explore the characteristics of college students' interpersonal communication and the relationship between parenting styles and it, 671 college students from the city of Nanjing and Shandong province were surveyed by questionnaires and private interview. The results concludes that:1. Most college students' scores on interpersonal communication are normal, there are only 7.3 percent students suffering from much lower level of interpersonal communication.?There are significant differences in interpersonal communication among different grades. The score of grade one students in interpersonal communication is the highest The score of grade two is the lowest among the four grades. The scores of grade three and four are a little higher than grade two, but still have significant differences with grade one.?There are significant sexual differences in altruism, activity and sincere and so on.2. There are significant differences between the students from rural area and those from urban area, also between single children and non-single children.?Compared with the students from urban area, students from rural area scored higher in all factors, except for activity.?The differences in sympathy, altruism and trusty factors, are significant between single children and non-single children. Meanwhile, the scores of single children in all factors of interpersonal communication are lower than that of non-single children.3. The scores of parenting styles are closely associated with scores on college students' interpersonal communication.Appropriate parenting styles are positively correlated with college students' interpersonal communication, while inappropriate parenting styles have significant negative relation with college students' interpersonal communication.4. There is close correlation between parenting styles and all the factors of college students' interpersonal communication.The more positive parenting styles, the higher scores college students obtained in test of interpersonal communication level; the more negative parenting styles, the lower scores of college students' interpersonal communication. |
