Applying research methods from national musicology and based on the two music books- Yang zhengxuan Lute Score and Wang Yuting Lute Score, this paper, the comparison study on Lute Arts of Pudong School and Wang School, attempts to examine the lute arts of Pudong school and Wang school, their musical pedigree and general courses in development.Chapter OneThis chapter is devoted to the investigation of the pedigree of Pudong school and Wang school by means of outlining the key personality and pedigree.Chapter TwoThis chapter makes one to one comparison between the music items from Yang zhengxuan Lute Score and Wang Yuting Lute Score in terms of their structure, score and fingering, etc. and concludes that there are five scores that are the same in content but with different titles, Xiyanxiaogu and Xuenyanyeyue, Wulingyiyun and Saishanqu Chenshui and Shenchuanmiaodi Bawangxiejia and Yulunbao, Shimianmaifu and Huaiyinpinchu; three scores with the same content and titles: Yanchunbaixue, Dengyuejiaohui, Puyanzhou. In addition, 3 scores Jianjunlin, Yueergao, Pinshaluoyan are unique to Yang zhengxuan Lute Score and Qinlianyuefu to Wang Yuting Lute Scor.Chapter ThreeThis chapter makes comparison between the performing arts between the two schools and concludes that the featuring skills of Pudong school are Jiagun, Changjiagun, various Jiatang and Jiagui , Dazhifeng, Fei, Shuanfei, Lunguansitiaoxian, Xianshu Variation, Join four, three,two strings, Shaopie,Bashendefendiantou, variations of skills in Yin tui, tuo, skills in tamber variation, rendering of gong and drum, etc, among which Luanguansitiaoxuan, Jiaoxuan, Gouda, Gong and drum are characteristic of this school. The featuring fingerings of Wang school are Yaozhi, Fengdiantou,etc, with the right hand upwards and strong fingering.,Chapter FourThis chapter makes comparison between the two schools in terms of scores, performing arts, and composition rendering and concludes that the Pudong school emphasizes variation in tamber and cadence, delicacy in rendering. It is also good at right finger's angle, force and stringing tools difference so as to realize cadence difference. The performance of Wang school emphasizes the solution of internal emotion, characteristic of being bold and plain, forcefulness and magnitude. Chapter FiveThis chapter analyzes and synthesizes the factors that forming the schools of lute performance from the historical, social, geographical and even personal aesthetic perspectives, including mainly the pedigree of lute arts, society, locality, aesthetic and creativity.
