The thesis aims to approach Luxun and Sheng Congwen, two masters in literature, from the perspective of Humanism in Aesthetics, or human ontology and to reach a deep understanding of their differences and similarities in mental worlds and creative connotations in two aspects of "Whatever is life"and "For what is life". In spite of the superficial differences, actually, they make the same way to life evaluation. In answer to "Whatever is life"(proposition of exsitentialism), they have a tacit mutual understanding: they both praise for life tragedy and passions; confronted with the destruction of human civilization in the hands of the unique contemporary urban civilization in China caused by the interwoven material and feudal civilization, they propose to promote the strength of humanity, helping contemporary Chinese people to regain human nature, bright and limpid childlike innocence, the value of sentiment, and the spirit of Dionysus; on the way of interpret "For what is life"(proposition of value), the two masters reached far but differently: they both see clearly the tragic nature of life and advocate humanity; Sheng Congwen finally arrives at the state of "Clarity", while Luxun fights his way to the same destination. They are equally great poets and philosophers in harsh search of "Love is life"and "Love of humankind".
