Abstract: Li Xianyong had made some accomplishment in the Late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, however, he hasn't been studied in the research area of Tang poems, even rarely known by people. In this dissertation, the writer plans to research Li Xianyong and his poetry exploratory, and try to give Li Xianyong an objective and just evaluation.The dissertation is divided into three parts. The first part examines Li Xianyong's life experience and his travel life, the writer thinks that Li Xianyong's hometown was Yi Chun City in Jiang Xi Province. He began to join imperial examination between Da Zhong and Xian Tong, had traveled Hu Nan and Luo Yang, and maybe had also traveled Chang'an. What's more, Li Xianyong should have died before A.D.918. In order to know Li Xianyong more and better, the writer also examines the history of the Late Tang Dynasty and The Five Dynasties which Li Xianyong lived in. The second part discusses the common content of Li Xianyong's poetry, the writer thinks that Li Xianyong's Political Poetry reveals the political events and some social phenomenon , such as the event that the Later Liang Dynasty replaced Tang Dynasty , the minority nationality's invasion, peasant movement and imperial examination's reactionary, etc. These reveal not only make Li Xianyong's Political Poetry a historical quality and meaning, but also embody Li Xianyong's realistic creation inclination. Yong Huai Poetry have some creation based on former poets' accomplishment, which expresses the feelings of wanting to make progresses and do good to society, shows the depression of beening not succeed in his official life and the spirit of being carefree and leisurely some time, reveals the upset that war has brought to him and other writers. Landscape and Pastoral Poems describe the beautiful scenery with hills, waters, rural and villa, which typically reflect the situation and mentality of those hermits who were in troubled times but were still waiting for good job condition. On the other hand, Landscape and Pastoral Poems also express the leisure and loneliness of being a hermit. Presenting and Replying Poems not only express the deep feelings between friends when they had to face leave or miss each other, also express the feelings of giving friends sympathy andwarmly encourage, thus, objectively reveal the common life situation of the writers lived in the Late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties. The third part mainly talks about the artistic feature of Li Xianyong's poetry from artistic style, artistic methods, language feature, and structure and so on. Li Xianyong's poetry has formed a variety of artistic styles, the most important artistic style is depressed and lament, otherwise, tranquil and calm, magnificent are Li Xianyong's poetry's artistic style, too. Li Xianyong usually uses metaphor, exaggeration, contrast, discussion, place feelings on sth. etc. Li Xianyong uses metaphor and exaggeration very skillfully. Using tautology is a marked language feature in Li Xianyong's poetry, still, Li Xianyong's poetry is popular and easy to understand, and one expression is using great quantity slang and common sayings. The other expression is using many function words, which makes Li Xianyong's poetry easily and skillfully. Li Xianyong does well in Lv Shi and Yue Fu. Especially does well in Lv Shi, it is influented by spirit of that time in the Late Tang Dynasty and The Five Dynasties. Li Xianyong's Yue Fu also made some attainment. Last, the writer briefly talks about the status of Li Xianyong's poetry, thinks that Li Xianyong's poetry has included some important transitional characters from Tang Poems to Song Poems, has made a fairly certain accomplishment.
