Xiang Shan Ye Lu ,the book was written by SHI Wen-ying who was a monk and lived in Song Dynasty.. The whole book had 165 clauses and it mainly narrated the various affairs of the court and the commonlty as well as the combat of the ruler group of the time in the earlier North Song Dynasty. In addition, the book also recorded the political ,economic and diplomatic activity of the time. Because the writer was a monk and he hardly had scruple . Although the hearsay he got involved the mystery of the court ,he narrated the affairs according to the facts. Furthermore, the monk ,as a person who lived in the time, narrated the affairs of the time ,and he was inevitably influenced by what he constantly saw and heard. If we spurn the superstition component, the book is still the important data of reflecting the social affairs of the earlier North Song Dynasty. Consequently, the literary sketch still had some reference value . Particularly , it narrated "TaiZong's ascending the throne" which handed over the mystery of "the axe's sound and the candle's shadow" andproduced the eternal argument. The paper of mine mainly involve the following aspects: the wholelife of the writer, the process of the book how it was finished, the editions of the book, the analysis of the content of the book. I will compare the book with Song Shi, Dong Du Shi Lue , Xu Zi Zhi Tong Jian Chang Bian ,in order to find out the same and difference in narration among these books.
