During the Han and Wei Dynasty, Naga in Buddhism was positively introjected into Chinese traditional culture and developed into one of folk-custom beliefs which is of great influence in ancient times of China after it was introduced into China. Compared to other modes of literature, ancient novels, which profoundly inflects the social life, visually and veritably describes the state of stories and narrates legends about the belief of Naga as well as folk belief. This dissertation takes the ancient novels as the research object to deeply research the belief of Naga in them,Which there is study of the developing and evolving disciplinarian of Naga as well as its the cultural connotation, and also explanation of artistic idiosyncrasy of novel from analysis of the content. Besides, this essay spreads out its eyesight to the study among ancient Japanese , Korean and Viet Nam Chinese novel to anticipate to understand the cultural connotation on the belief of Naga in ancient Chinese novels abroad and to compare the similarities and differences in belief of Naga between the three countries and China.
