Strange Stories From A Chinese Studio "ghost Novel Cultural Connotations

LIAO ZHAI ZHI YI is a very famous novel collection writing in classical Chinese, and more than 20 percent of it is about ghost novel. Although there were some researches, including writings and articles related to the ghost novels of this novel collection in the past, very few researched them from cultural aspect specially. In this thesis, we want to probe into the cultural connotations of the ghost novels of LIAO ZHAI ZHI YI more deeply, more exactly and more systematically, in order to grasp the whole novel collection better."Culture" is a whole, so does the cultural connotation of the ghost novels of LIAO ZHAI ZHI YI. Standing on the ghosts novels themselves, we will research it mainly from three aspects: belief, morality, and idea. First, the author used primitive soul belief as the novels' outer space. Second, the author used Chinese traditional morality as the novels' cultural core, and last, the author attached importance to "human" and "life" in the novels, which is the most important for the ghost novels' cultural connotation and is the main reason for the novels' vitality.In each aspect, we will give an overall account of its cultural connotation and analyze its reasons. From these reasons, we also can come to a point, that is, the cultural connotation of the ghost novels of LIAO ZHAI ZHI YI is also a mixture of traditional ideas and period's spirits. At the same time, It embodies the cultural characteristics of Chinese nation and Shan Dong region, embodies the ideas of the author and the wisdom of all the people too.
