Research On The Melody And Diction Of Libai's Traditional Yuefu

Libai's traditional Yuefu is considered to be a great success among the poets in Tang Dynasty . He himself also takes pride inthem and has concluded a special way of composing their melodiesand dictions.This paper lays an emphasis on the musical characters of libai's traditional Yuefu, which hasn't been paid enough attention to in recent years. It is inferred that libai has roughly four methods. As to most of the traditional Yuefu's which can still be sung in Tang Dynasty ,he composed them with traditional melodies and dictions. Besides, as for the poems that can't be sung in his period,he based his creation on the traditional structures and norms. Thirdly,he has transformed many old melodies. And he has also composed a few new melodies but still continued to use the traditional titles. As far as the last two situations are concerned, he takes great efforts to maintain the musical characters of Yuefu and recover the original charm of Yuefu.
