Graphical User Interface Design

The software interface, the most direct face in the process of using the software by consumers, is a kind of information passage between the consumers and the system. The bandwidth of this passage directly decides the actual efficiency of the software. From this point, we can say that it is more important than code. With the deep popularization and application of computer and IT in every corner of the society, the kinds, use and function of the software, the personnel constitution and knowledge structure of the consumers, and factors like that, are becoming more and more complicated; as a result, the significance of the software interface becomes more and more obvious, and it has developed into an independent discipline. Some experts have pointed out:" for the consumers, the man-machine interface is just the system itself."Having developed and being improved for many years, the software interface has accomplished the change from the Command Line Interface (CLI) to the Graphical User Interface (GUI). With its unparallel advantage, the Graphical User Interface becomes- the dominant pattern of the modern software interface. The design and research of the Graphical User Interface mainly includes two aspects: the interactive design, which is to solve the problem of easy use of software; and the interface visual design, which is to prettify the software products from the artistic angle, in order to give the consumers very good visual experience and to raise the additional value of the products. With the aggravation of the market competition, it also becomes an important way for the software products to fight for market if the software has fine easy-use quality and nice visual design.This paper has made a systematical and deep research and generalization of the software interface, from the aspects of concept, creation, development, studying contents, design philosophy and methods. For the development of the Graphical User Interface, a reasonable forecast is made that the differentiation and amalgamation of it will be a dialectical unification. For the current situation of domestic software, a new concept of productization of software interface design has been put forward in this paper. The procedure of the exploit of the software interface being the main line, combined with a great amount of practical projects, the whole paper offers strong theoretical foundation and rich creational ways for the design and exploit of the software interface, and has high practical values.
