Chinese Pop Art

From late 1980s till present, Chinese Pop Art has experienced a much complex and multivariate process whence the political, economic reforms intrigued art creation and thus changed our visual experience as well as our living style. The collision and blending of Chinese and Western culture have evoluted into the present pop art in our life. Based on the study of Pop Art, which boasts of the dividing line between modern and post-modern art, the author analyzes the special social, political, cultural backgrounds that breed Chinese Pop Art. And then, the author presents the six features and its intellectualized textual ideas and techniques of Chinese Pop Art, which can both help realize the historic values of this period of art and inspire the present art practice for no other art as Chinese Pop Art could connect itself so much with all factors in the field of post-modern art through its own influence of through the antagonism or dispelling it aroused. Still, Chinese Pop Art emphasizes more on the fact that the West is no longer outside China or the Chinese people, but remains deep in the Chinese people's self-realization.
