Sketch Study On The Phenomenon Of Confucianists' Throwing Down Confucian Classics And Joining In Commercial Affairs In Ming And Qing Dynasty's Novels

The phenomenon of Confucianists' throwing down Confucian classics and joining in commercial affairs in Ming and Qing dynasty's novels is worthful of paying attention to very much. However, in fact, until today there are few scholars had done so and embarked on research. Therefore, I made my mind to try my best to uncover and interpret this phenomenon rationally. And the principle of this paper is social-historical research method, then to gain it by means of literatural and historical's mutual proving.As we all know, there was a long history period in Chinese Feudal Society, commerce and businessmen had been restrained and disdained. But in Ming and Qing Dynasty Confucianists' viewpoint on businessmen had the general actions of throwing down Confucian classics and joining in the commercial with reasons of social and individual. Which had been described in novels of that time. Many a confucianist had given up their traditional designed ideal life, that was to study the Confucian classics and strengthen the Confucian beliefs then get bureaucratic benefit and achievements through imperial examinations. As an equivalent, they put business as their living-making.Neverthess, few of these business confucianists can be indifferent to the traditional confucian teachings and thinkings completely. On the contrary, they still crawled before Confucius, their business life was still influenced by the Confucian. Thereby, many of them practiced as confucianists while dressed as businessmen. Through which, they can gain a relative inner quiet. So they made the Confucian and commerce be confluence easily and it would lead to their practise of rebuild their Confucian belief after material rich in business. Frankly speaking, all the experience in essence showed their strong Confucian Complex Resulty, novelists' description on this phenomenon symbolized their potenatial thinking of Confucianism must be more significant than commerce which influenced conservatively.Therefore, we can draw a conclusion, the phenomenon of confucianist's classics' throwing down and commercial affairs' joining in Ming and Qing Dynasty's novels absolutely resulted from social reality and described as an artistic expression of those time's social reality. also it is the reflection of the novelist's conception.
