The content of Linchu Simeng(Four Dreams at Linchuan) by Tang Xianzu is originated directIy or indirectly from Tang Dynasty legendary novels. This paper takes Linchu Simeng and four other related novels of Tang Dynasty as research objects. It bases oneself upon text and focuses on Linchu Simeng. From the angle of adaptation it compares different works with the same theme both in Tang and Ming dynasties and analyzes these works' changes both in cultural connotation and narrative arts, from which it tries to find out that Linchu Simeng has inherited and surmounted the four related novels in Tang Dynasty and tries to enrich researches on dramas of Xianzu Tang. What' s more, from the above analysis it tries to unveil characters of ancient Chinese narrative arts in the specific development stage from one side and to analyze some phenomena in the evolution of ancient Chinese narrative arts.
