Sustainable Development In The Ethics Vision

Since the 1960s, because of the disequilibrium of south and north economy development, the shortages of the natural resources and the serious environment pollutions and other problems, the development of the human society has fallen into severe predicament. In the course of reviewing the reasons leading to the development predicament and exploring the approaches getting out of the predicament, the sustainable development theory was put forward. Since the 1992 convention of environment and development of UN in Rio de Janeiro, the sustainable development thought has been rooted in the hearts of the people and was accepted by the majority of countries all over the world. The sustainable development theory has begun to be the guidelines in making policies and choosing strategies of international community and each country.Sustainable development theory is a new mode of human society development. Adopting the mode is a fundamental transition, which demands to solve the population, resource and environment problems of the current world and other problems restraining the sustainable development, and to coordinate the society development with population, resource and environment. However, the mankind has been facing the unsustainable situation in these problems not only because of the origins of the political-economic-technological level but also the deep level origins of values and world view. So it is necessary to seek the help of philosophy to reconsider the sustainable development problems and study them at the angle of ethics. Form the grounds of the theory-level by the transition of human values and world view and consequently to settle various kinds of problems restraining the sustainable development under the guidance of new world outlook and values. In view of this, this article tries to examine the contemporary development predicament inside the vision of ethics and probe into the problems of sustainabledevelopment, and endeavor to carry through beyond some certain extent. The logical structure and main contents of this article are as follows:Firstly: The rise and development of the sustainable development theory. Expound the backgrounds of the theory rise and the brief process of the theory formation and development; state the present research situation of the contemporary sustainable development problems generally.Secondly: The ethical vision of the traditional development view. Investigate the traditional relationships between the people and the nature, the people and the people; point out the predicament of the human society development which respectively embodies in the opposition and conflict between the people and the nature, the people and the people, and reflect ethically the irrationality of he traditional development view.Thirdly: The sustainable development view is the inevitable transition. If the humankind wants to get out of the predicament of the society development, it is essential to divert from unsustainable to sustainable development, and attain the benign interaction between the people and the nature and the sustainable development of mankind itself. This part talks about the meaning of the benign interaction between the people and the nature and the sustainable development of mankind itself and analyzes the ways to achieve the sustainable development and its value orientation and significance.
