| The art of piano performance is an important academic topic, the musical expression of piano performance can either take on some general rules or regulations, or have special variations due to innovations as well. Proper limit, as a good scale for measuring musical performance, directly affects performers' understanding of their works, then affects the outcome of their performance, and even affects the expression of the works' connotation; therefore, the importance of proper limit of piano performances is self-evident. Proper limit of piano performance is not an isolated word, but the combination of philosophy and esthetics. It represents more than a concept, which can billow in piano field, but also an antinomy, which is both con and pro by itself, under many subjects. Perhaps, it is hard to use a sentence with clear-cut banner to define simply how the proper limit should be during piano performance. Also, it is hard to use the idea of what is right and what is wrong to filter what is called correct and wrong. What we can say is that for a thing which is being researched at the time, especially for an issue with so much sensation, the author can just try his or her best to do research dialectically and impersonally, positively search related subjects (e.g. philosophy and esthetics) for supporting theories, and then continuously endeavor to come up with improvements of the proper limit and series of suggestions for improving the author's knowledge. Just like that the development of things is relative, the proper limit's correctness or wrongness, and felicitousness or not is relative. Today's you isrelative to yesterday's one, mature is relative to inchoation... Maybe the idea of different people has the tendency of converging some where, while diverging some where else. However, just like letting hundreds of schools of thought contend and hundreds of flowers blossom, the meaning of researching on proper limit is not to uniform people's idea, leading everyone to agree exactly with what is called "legitimacy", but to continuously come up with some methods to hold proper limits well through doing research and demonstratingon different levels' and from different point of views. It is an inspiration for continuously approaching to the real connotation of music through different paths, and for continuously surpassing oneself during performance, and then creating one's own style. How to tread the proper limit of musical expression dialectically during piano performance is more than doing research positively on the phenomena of the existence of different musical expression and different proper limit during piano performance. We should ascend its philosophic rooting foundation and dig into Weltanschauung level ; not just do research on the discipline of piano art , and try hard to search the closely related esthetic proof , to reinforce and support theory. This is the focus and meaning of this thesis. This essay takes the proper limit of musical expression of piano performance as reference, from philosophic and esthetic point of view.
