Zhang Chao was the famous novelist,dramatist,block-printer and thinkerin the early Qing Dynasty,he was famous and influent on people of today. Zhang Chao had a bumper crop of literary works.For example,there existover twenty pieces of writings such as A hand-Copied Book of Poems in Xinzhai,A Collection of Ci for Shadow ofFlowers,You Mong Ying and SO on.He wroteshort stories in classical Chinese which were collected in the book of YU ChuXin Zhi.edited and block-printed Zhao Dai Cong Shu and Tan Ji Cong Shu.andcreated the traditional play Bi Ge.Following the school of Gongan.heemphasized"xing ling",typically in You Mong Ying which was regarded bylater generations as"the book of wisdom of the Oriental".The style of Yu Chu in creating fiction had exerted great influence on the later creation of fiction.Zhang had an unusual insight Into the traditional plays.too.The present thesis introduces the experiences in Zhang'S lifesystematically and analyzes his thoughts and literary viewpoint comprehensively.Based on the abundant references,the thesis observes and studies quite clearly his association with others in the years of Kangxi and the background of his writings.The implied meaning and artistic value in his works are probed into by examining the features in literature then.Meanwhile.the thesis analyzes Zhang'S peculiarity in his theory of traditional plays as well as holds the development of classical Chinese fiction and the characteristics of the essays to depict scenery during the Dynasty of Ming and Qing.Finally,the present survey analyzes the influence by Zhang Chao on the later literary creation from the perspectives of philology and literature,resulting in the comprehensive concept on Zhang Chao and hiS works....
