Comparative Researches On The Relatives' Appellations In Vietnamese And Chinese And Their Cultural Implication

The appellations constitute a kind of major phenomenon in the social linguistics, the relatives' appellations are an important component in the system of the predicate. Each people kt the world possesses its own relatives' appellations, besides, the relatives' appeiiations in each language contain strong cultural distinguishing features of its own people. China and Vietnam are neighbours, it has been existing links of friendly relations for long since, leading to the existenco of numerous similarities in the relatives' appellations both in modem Chinese and modern Vietnamese, but since Chinese and Vietnamese are two different languages, consequently, among them, a lot of differences can still be noticed. Nowadays, scholars and texts whose researches are focused on the relatives' appellations both in Chinese and Vietnamese ere not numerous. In consequence, the author's aim is to hope that, through this text, she can make those scholars, who show interests in bom Chinese and Vietnamese languages and cultures, have a better comprehension of the relatives' appellations in the two languages aad also of the cultural connotations which they reflect. In the same time, die author wishes this text call bring a certain help to the Chinese and Vietnamese students who are studying the Chinese aad the Vietnamese languages.On the basis of the researches made by predecessors, this text will first define the appellations, the address terms and their contents. After that, it will summarize the cuftunl and historical exchanges between the Vietnamese civilization and the Chinese one. Then, it will summarize and draw a conclusion on the differences and similarities between the Chinese and Vietnamese relatives' appellations and their cultural contents. As the last part, it will do a comparative research on the concrete relatives' appellations and their use.Because of the limited time and resources, this text can not cover all fee aspects of the system of the relatives' appellations, but it can only proceed to an exploration and a comparison of the relatives' appeiiations in modem Chinese and Vietnamese on a representative mode. It will point out the main different and similar features, and will go a step further in the confirmation of the influence of each respective traditional culture on both languages.
