Feuerbach's theory of sensibility is a new philosophy that is constructed against Hegel's speculative metaphysics. Feuerbach replaces Hegel's absolute spirit with sensible human and nature, and uses the method of sensible intuition against Hegel's method of abstract speculation. There is an abundant modern meaning in Feuerbach's philosophy that concerns about the real individual's sensible desire in its orientation of value and emphasizes on sensible experience in its direction of thought. This article, through Feuerbach's original work, tries to expound the starting point and the content of philosophy of sensibility, reveal its inner defects and modern meaning, response some arguments that underestimate its modern values. There are four parts in this article. Part I introduce the Feuerbach's criticism of Hegel's philosophy, namely, which is the reduction of Hegel's absolute spirit, the criticism of character of theology in Hegel's philosophy and the exposure of resource of Hegel's method of abstract speculation.Part II expounds the main content of philosophy of sensibility, which is science of nature, anthropology and their relation, and points out tersely the principle and ground of anthropology that is on the base of human body as Feuerbach gives prominence to human's sensible desire in the field of will and sentiment, underlines the ultimate position of the sense in the field of knowledge.Part III principally evaluate the defects of Feuerbach's philosophy including the undue sensualism which results in poor grasping the general essence of things and the rational essence of sensible human, lack of subjective activity on human and theidealism in the field of society and history. The last part of this article discuss of the modern meaning of Feuerbach's philosophy of sensibility. It points out that Feuerbach's point on sensible human give the way to Karl Marx's argument on human as sensible activity, argues that Feuerbach hadn't built up a super-sensible world and hadn't enjoyed the premise of the general metaphysics that professor Wuxiaoming had suggested.
