In the history of western music, there are a large number of operas originated from classical literary writings. They have been proved by long-term aesthetic practices and received definitely high evaluation. They are appreciated by numerous readers and reach relatively large influences, which have provided the best foundation of content and concept for their adaptation. Considering that the contribution for the development of opera's art, Shakespeare could be said the greatest among the numbers of great literary masters. By the Shakespeare's unique social viewpoint and powerful artistic creativity, many artists recomposed his writings and created new monumental artistic works, especially the works of the Italian opera master----Verdi. His opera "MACBETH", originated from the homonymous tragedy of Shakespeare, is the successful one in the early period of his creation. We know, both drama and opera are scenic art. On the one hand, they have the commonness by their dramatic art; but on the other hand, they have their own individuality by performing forms. This thesis endeavor to discuss the inimitable characteristic of opera "MACBETH" by comparing the peculiarity of opera "MACBETH" (Verdi's) and drama "MACBETH" (Shakespeare's) on their own structures, conceives, personae and expressive measures, studying the alteration in the content, scenario, scenery, personality and musical development from the drama to opera.
