Huang Ting-jian is a poet who lived in the north Song dynasty. He was admired by the following people for his two poetic theories which are "Dian Tie Cheng Jin" and "Tuo Tai Huan Gu". Although he also wrote a lot of Ci but generally speaking, most of critics accused these Ci and some of them even denied them totally. The thesis will study Shan Gu Ci from two aspects which are the text and the cultural background of his times. Based on showing the appearance of these Ci, I'll try to give them an impersonal value and position in the history of Chinese literature. The study of Shan Gu Ci's text includes three parts. The first part is the study of the content. The content is heterogeneous. Except some traditional content, there are also some other content including in it such as sending off, chanting thing, drawing scenery, missing etc.. Shan Gu is another person who can use lyrics to express almost all his mind after Su Shi did. The second part is the study of the artistic skill and artistic characteristic . The skill was major embodied in the way of using language. Firstly, he often used zigzag way to express his mind so that his Ci looked zigzag beauty. Secondly, he wrote Ci in the way of writing poems, so that some sentences were easy to read. He was also good at taking other's good sentences as his own , and made these sentences better than before. This is the result of using "Dian Tie Cheng Jin" and "Tuo Tai Huan Gu" in his writing subconsciously. Thirdly, he often used coarse words and coarse sentences in his Ci, so that they just like folk song and embody springiness and liveliness. The artistic skill was also embodied in feelings and scene utilize. Sometimes he sent feelings in scene, or with scene lining feelings, or scene blend , make feelings be with scene in Ci unification together harmoniously. Besides, Shan Gu also usually used metaphor and analogy in his writing . The characters were formed on the base of all these skills. One on hand, the language was clumsy. On the other hand, the feeling was delicate. The third part is the research of Shan Gu Ci's aesthetic characteristics, which are: not only elegant but also vulgar, not only strong but also soft, not only thin but also charm. The study of the culture includes four parts. The first part is the influence of Shan Gu's suffering from his life on his Ci. Shan Gu suffered a lot in his life .Therefore, on one hand there were very evidence mood tendency ,on the other hand, There were so many pieces about philosophy. The second part shows how the Li Xue influenced Shan Gu Ci . The third part studies how the culture influenced Shan Gu Ci . The last part shows the relationship between Shan Gu's poetic theories and his productive active. He theoretically definite Su Shi's theories, which are Shi and Ci had the same source and they belonged to one body, but in actual creation, his attitude receives the two aspects simultaneously. He not only wrote Ci in the way of writing poet but also did not lose the traditional style of Ci.From the above investigation for the two aspects of Shan Gu Ci ,we can find out: Shan Gu Ci make to be not blindly gorgeous custom, no matter from content or on artistic skill and aesthetic characteristic say,it have its desirable place. Shan Gu Ci is entire the reflection of the cultural condition of later north Song dynasty, in accepting old cultural mechanism at the same time, he was also creating the new universe of Ci with great efforts - get literatureness, lyricsness, amusement, music and the medium of Ci combined , make Ci present the diversified feature of function.
