But poets from generation to generation only created poems on the basis of this idea without studying it as a theory. Ai Qing is regarded as the first to advocate and promote it to the height of aesthetics. This thesis studies Ai Qing' s theory in four parts. The first part mainly states the proposition of prosy aesthetics of poem and the background of poetics. Ai Qing1 s poetic ideal is that poets should express their perspectives towards the world naturally and freely. In the late days of 1930' s, poems were written in the rules and forms of that of classical poems, therefore, Ai Qing advocated the proposition of prosy aesthetics in poem production, requiring the poets to tell the truths instead of affectation. This theory quite differentiates from prose-like poems lacking emotion and image. The nature of prosy aesthetics of poems proposed by Ai Qing is that poets should express true feelings towards his age in a comparatively smooth, emotional and colloquial way, thus poems can possess its essential core: emotion and image. The second analyzes the essence of prosy aesthetics of poem and Ai Qing' s poetical creation. Ai Qing's proposition bears the true beauty of poems which virtually carries the feelings coming from the inner heart of poets which are closely concerned with the stage and the people. The poetic aesthetics in image is that poems are created appreciably. The aesthetics in poetic language possesses briefness, instructiveness and colloquialism. The aesthetics in poetic forms lies in the freedom of poem creation. The musical aesthetics of poems lies in its verse and rhythms. The organic combination of the four factors consists of the prosy aesthetics of poems, the ideal poetic production Ai Qing pursued all his life. Ai Qing fully embodied his poetic ideal in a series of his well-known poems, such as Da Ya River-My Mammy, The North, I Love The land and Ichthyolite. In conclusion, Ai Qing successfully fulfilled the proposition of poetic creation by these poems. The third expatiates the origin of prosy aesthetics of poem both in Chinese and Western poetics. Under the influence of many Chinese and Western artists and poets, Ai Qing carried out his proposition and gradually perfected it by his own practice. At the beginning of the 20th century some French impressionism poets initiated" the pure poem campaign" advocating that the poetic rules and forms should be independent of the stereotyped norm. A new criterion should be employed to show the poets' feelings and emotions and only in this way could poets obtain freedom they seek for. This freedom turned to be the core of Ai Qing' s proposition: the prosy aesthetics of poems. In Tang and Song dynasties prose-like poems were very popular and some poets even used prose to decorate artificial poems. Ai Qing drew lesson from the failure and was strongly against the prose-like poems. Besides this contribution, Ai Qing had absorbed and developed the theory of poem creation made by Guo Moruo, a famous Chinese poet and enriched the essence of prosy aesthetics of poems. The last part concludes the influence and enlightenment of Ai Qing's poetic ideal on modern Chinese poetics. The essence of Ai Qing's poetic ideal conveys the massage of elegance, genuineness and perfection which were integrated and indispensable to poem production. In accordance with Ai Qing' s poetic ideal, the Chinese newly-formed poems have shaken off the binding of the old forms of poem composition. The poems were no longer monotonous, stereotyped and tasteless and become more and more oral and easily accepted by the common readers. It was poems with a new content and vitalities that should be advocated and appreciated by modern Chinese poets. Only in the way can modern poems be popularly accepted. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Prosy Aesthetics of Poems, True Feelings, Image, Colloquialism, Poetic Ideal | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
