Starting from a ship of only 70.6 tons in weight, Minsheng Industrial Corporation Limited was set up by Lu Zuo-fu, a patriotic industrialist. Ten years after its establishment, it rose from the Chuanjiang River and developed into the biggest shipping enterprise in the old society and one of the largest groups of national capital , competing strongly against the imperialist , just before the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. Thus, it made a striking comparison against the bad management or the bankruptcy of many private enterprises in the rear during the war time.Making a deep analysis of the experiences of the management of Minsheng Corporation can offer us useful reference for the study of the development history of the Minsheng Corporation as well as that of national capital enterprises during the period of the Republic of China. Besides, it will be of a certain meaning for the modern enterprises under the conditions of socialist market economy to draw some experience and lessons from it and develop steadily and soundly.The paper consists of four parts.In the first part, the author briefly reviews the background of the establishment of Minsheng Corporation and the major process of the development from 1925 to 1945.Minsheng Corporation was set up during the period of the decline of the shipping industry of the Chanjiang River. The development of Minsheng Corporation(1925-1945) can be divided into three stages:1. The period of foundation(1925-1930) 2.the period of preliminary development (1930-1937) 3. The period of expansion(1937-1945)In the second part, the paper makes a deep analysis of the management strategies of Minsheng Corporation, which comsist of three parts, namely, the enterprise merger strategy, the multi-dimensional management strategy and the capital managementstrategy. At the end of this part, the author points out the management srategies of Minsheng Corporation solved a series of big problems during the process of development from the aspects of market, product and capital. In the third part, the author mainly deals with the systems and ways of the management of Minsheng Corporation,, which can be classified into three aspects, that is, management of personnel, management of property and management of organization. Minsheng Corporation set up its own peculiar way of management systemmatically and creatively. It stimulated all the staff members to greater initiative and more enthusiasm, creating a typical enterprise of high efficiency and standardized management. In the fourth part, the paper expounds the meaning and ways of the cultivation of the enterprise culture of Minsheng Corporation,from a completely new angle. The enterprise culture mainly focuses on the building of a certain enterpise mass culture spirit, which covers saving the nation by industry and commerce ,life of group, serving the society, thrifty and devotion to one's job. It permeates through all the management activities, resulting in high management efficiency and rapid progress of the enterprise.At the end of the paper, the author makes a brief summary and a full evaluation of the success and experience of Minsheng Corporation's management, revealing the historical and practical meaning of the study of the subject.
