It means that only when it embodies its nationality, will it be possible for it to gain a sound footing in the field of world oil painting, and that only when it possesses clear-cut characteristics of the age, will it have a better and further development. Thus Chinese oil painting will have a glaring future only if it is well grounded in these two aspects. Through large amount of analysis about the effect of national custom on the nationality, the relationship between the local features and nationality and relationship between modernity and nationality, the paper draws a conclusion that only when people have abundant knowledge about these relationships, will people have a better understanding about the nationality of the Chinese oil painting, and will it be possible for the artists to make an oil painting of real Chinese characteristics. |
