In this article, the author tries to analyse and generalize the term yeyue in the Shuowenjuezi which written by Xu shen lived in Dong Han Dynasty. The author analyses the issue in three parts.In the first part, the author explains the term yeyue about the constructions of the characters. Through the comparation between the oracles and the xiao zhuan, we can find that the shuowenjiezi's explanations about the xiaozhuans are mostly reasonalde. But at the same time, because the oracles are much more early Characters, some Xiao zhuans cannot represent it original meanings.In the second part, the author tries to explain why one character has two or more pronunciations. Some xiao zhuans have two or more pronunciations but have only one meaning, and the others, every pronunciation have its own meaning, different pronunciation has different meaning.In the third part, the author tries to explain the phenomeneon that one character has two or more meanings. According to the relationship between the two meanings, We can conclude that: 1. yiyue refers to one thing that has two different name; 2. yiyue refers to another meaning; 3.yiyue refers to the yinshen meaning; 4. yiyue refers to the Jiajie meaning; 5. yiyue refers to the accent.In short, the author tries to analyse and generalize the usage of yiyue in the dictionary shuowenjeezi.
