On Relations Between Song Dynasty And Champa Kingdom

Relations between Song Dynasty and Champa Kingdom are not only one of the most important external relations of Song Dynasty but also a major stage of the whole history of the ancient China-Champa Kingdom relations. Throughout the period of both Northern and Southern Song Dynasties, there were frequent and colorful official contacts between the two countries, which formed both the major expression of the friendly relations between them and the foundation of the economic and cultural exchanges. Therefore, it is a significant part of the studies of the relations between Song Dynasty and Champa Kindom to make a thorough investigation of their exchange of diplomatic visits. On the basis of consulting as many as possible historical materials, with the methods of careful analysis and detailed textual research, this thesis focuses on the comprehensive examination of the exchange of diplomatic visits between the two countries and then proceeds to a preliminary study of some issues concerned their relations. I hope this research present exactly the basic structure of the China-Champa relations and draw forth the initial knowledge on their political, economic and cultural relations in history and help the further study of the history of the Song-Dynasty-and-Champa-Kingdom, especially of the whole Song-Dynasty-and-Ancient- Vietnam relations.
