The Influence Of The Thoughts Of Confucian Works On Vietnamese Culture

Vietnam is one of China's neighbors, and the relationship between both countries has always been very tight. As a consequence, Chinese culture, especially Confucian ideology, has a great influence on Vietnam. During two thousand years, Confucian ideology went though continuous popularization and development. It has taken root in Vietnamese society and deeply influenced all its aspects. Beginning from the Qin dynasty, Confucian theory has gone through different stages of development and has grown into a very unique cultural entity.Following the changes of time and being the core of Chinese culture, Confucianism is gradually recognized by the modern world. This allows it to become a very important cultural ideology in world culture. Confucian art works on their turn, being important media for spreading Confucian culture, don't only have a high artistic value, their value in the field of cultural exchange is obtaining more and more attention of the academic world. The research on Confucian art works as a medium for spreading Confucian culture has become an important subject of Confucian academic research. This is why the analysis in this thesis takes two Confucian classics, being the Analects of Confucius and the Works of Mencius, as a starting point. An introduction and a more profound analysis of these two classics is followed by an elaboration on the essential meaning of Confucian culture spread by Confucian works. Hereafter, this thesis elaborates the influence of this cultural ideology on the Vietnamese political ideology, education system, family ethics and other aspects of Vietnamese society.Confucian works play a key role in the stimulation of cultural exchange, this is the reason why research on Confucian works and the analysis of their cultural ideology is not only useful to understand the value of Confucian works in the cultural field.As confucian culture is recognized by both countries, confucian works can also act as a stimulus for cultural exchange and the development of a friendly relationship between China and Vietnam.
