Aiachronic Investigation And Study Of The Chinese Idioms In The People's Daily

Idiom is an important part of Chinese words that people use it become a custom through long practice, structure solidified and with the overall significance of the four-character fixed phrases. Since 2005, the State Language Commission began to issue "Language Situation in China", and increased the survey of Idiom and phrase in 2007, showing that the use of idiom and phrase have been gotten more widespread concern.This paper we use"People's Daily"'s electronic version language material from 1947 to 2007 through statistics the idiom used in newspaper ,and from different angles to inspect, analyze and describe the overall use of idiom, which focus on changes of the form of the idiom. After sorting and screening, we get 470 groups idiom which relate in the form. We classify the idiom from three angles -phonetic form, written form and structure form, contrastive analyze the frequency of utilization, functional quality and causes of the change and explore the diachronic change about the idiom form in the People's Daily. On this basis we have suggestion on standardization of the idiom and hope has a help on teaching and lexicography.
