The current literature ignores the Saturday and only more than twenty research articles have been published, especially the romantic novels. Scholars have not given it enough attention. Its research efforts (the depth, the breadth) are not enough. The research content remains to be systematic elaboration; study deepness also needs to be strengthened.The first chapter focuses on analyzing the development of Saturday romantic novels. The view put forward in modern times, but appears in traditional articles. Romantic novels formed its own unique artistic style during its development from Han to late Qing period.The second chapter is discussing the composing characteristics of Saturday. The paper discussed four aspects: the artistic style of classical and diversified of modern times, fusion of traditional fiction between classical style and new thought, the modern transformation and the depressed modernity. Through the analysis of fiction characteristics on Saturday, we can learn the general development of novel, the characteristic of society, ideological and cultural connotation, political and economic background in late Qing period.The third chapter discusses the time characteristic of Saturday. In the background of Chinese and foreign exchange, the fiction inevitably has some limitations, from three parts, ideological level, and the tragic end in vain mode, blundering commercial culture the article discusses the limitation.The conclusion summarizes the significance and value research of Saturday. When Saturday romantic novel developed into modern gradually,it began to have their own characteristics, and transformed the traditional perpect ending mode for the modern tragedy.Beside that it described the development of the new city Shanghai. Inherited and improved both in plot model and narrative mode of traditional novels, manifested the ancient to modern a transitional.
