With the improvements of China's economy and comprehensive national strength, China as a responsible country is playing a more important role in the world. In the wake of the closer connection between China and other foreign countries on politics, economy and culture, more and more people have realized the importance of Chinese whice is used by the largest amount of people in the world. The application value, cultural function, the meaning of information and economic value of Chinese is making more and more contribution for the people around the world. So it is not difficult to find out that the bombarded explosion of the increase on the amount of people who are eager to learn English, but at the mean time, the amount of the teachers teaching Chinese as a foreign language is very limited. More Confucius Institutes have been built, more urgently professional Chinese teachers are needed. Based on my research, a conclusion can be easily made which is a large amount of the teachers who teach Chinese as a foreign language is highly needed around the world. According to the demands, more and more teachers transformed to the teachers teaching Chinese as a foreign language are getting to be taken into account. In my research, I attach much importance to the teachers who transform from English teacher to the teachers teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The reasons of their transformation, the difficulties, the challenges are discussed in my thesis.The documentary study, the interview method and the structured method have been applied to my research. Based on the analysis of the situation of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, I have made a research on the complexity and particularity of the teachers teaching Chinese as a foreign language and made my conclusions. The teachers of my research have different backgrounds, teaching methods and teaching experiences, which decides their complexity. My research greatly focuses on the teachers transformed from the English teachers to the teachers teaching Chinese as a foreign language. And the reasons, the difficulties, the challenges of their transformations are displayed through the interview method. Compared the institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education with the other institutes, I can make some suggestions on the transformation, thus supplying helps for the inter-disciplinary teachers to improve their teaching.Nowadays, a lot of researched are only made to focus on the cultural backgrounds and the teaching techniques. Researches are seldom made to work over the practical problems such as the former teaching backgrounds and the reasons of their transformation. This thesis discusses the training of the inter-disciplinary teachers, which makes a new and challenging topic.
