Mou Zongsan is a key representative of modern Confucianism, and an influential philosopher of 20th century in the world. He makes a Confucian critique and reconstruction to the philosophy of Kant in the position of Chinese philosophy, and on this basis, he makes a comparison of Kant's philosophy and Chinese philosophy, especially the mind-school of the Neo-Confucianism, and finally he establishes his Confucian "moral metaphysics". He integrates the philosophy of both the western world and Chinese by establishing Confucian "moral metaphysics". This is his philosophical construction to Chinese philosophy, which plays an important role and of far-reaching significance in the development of contemporary Chinese philosophy. This thesis focuses on the study of Mou Zongsan's "moral metaphysics" of Confucian. While Kant's philosophy is important to Mou Zongsan's, the thesis will make a further research and thinking of Kant's philosophy, and introduce it into Mou's philosophy so as to make an understanding and comparison of Mou's philosophy. Meanwhile, through the comparison and analysis of the two kinds of philosophy, the thesis will try to understand and sort the thoughts in the perspective of the original philosopher's meaning, thus, achieving the preliminary analysis of Mou Zongsan's "moral metaphysics". Based on a best understanding of Mou Zongsan's "moral metaphysics", the thesis makes a research and analysis of the main source of the idea, basic theoretical frame, and the internal logic development. Among them, the first chapter serves as the background introduction, which makes a basic introduction about Mou Zongsan and the Modern Neo-Confucianism School he belongs to. Chapter two mainly studies and introduces the key theoretical resources of Mou Zongsan's "moral metaphysics", which divided into Mou Zongsan's inheritance of western philosophy and that of Chinese traditional philosophy. Chapter three studies and analyses the establishment of Mou Zongsan's "moral metaphysics", including "The Open-up of 'Moral Metaphysics'" and "The Possibility of 'Moral Metaphysics'". This chapter mainly introduces why and how Mou Zongsan raises the thought of "moral metaphysics" and his demonstration of several key questions about the establishment and development of the ideology, thus, makes the construction of the ideology possible. Chapter four studies and analyses the completion of establishing "moral metaphysics". It is divided into "The Completion of'moral metaphysics'on the basis of'intellectual intuition'" and "The Open-up of'two layers of ontology'", and the above mentioned two parts are divided into two smaller parts respectively. This chapter is the key part and the most difficult part of the whole thesis, which including an in-depth analysis and study of the theoretical frame, logic processing, and the route of this ideology. The core vocabulary of this chapter is "intellectual intuition". Chapter five is the ending part. It focuses on the importance of Mou's ideology and its guidance and example meaning to the modern turn of Chinese philosophy. This chapter is divided into "The Modern Turn of Chinese Philosophy" and "The Significance of Mou Zongsan's Philosophy to the Modern Turn of Chinese Philosophy". The whole thesis tries to make clear of the ideology of Mou Zongsan's Confucian "moral metaphysics", analyze the content and the process of the ideology, thus completing the preliminary analysis of the philosophy system of his Confucian "moral metaphysics". |
