A Sociolinguistic Study Of Appellation With Temporary Construct Related To Event

With the new media in the digital era today, a new word community related to news event turned out, such as "Sharp brother", "Stop sister" and so on. It enters the public media area with its novel and simple structure, the meaning of complex multi-access, and it become a popular way to call a certain person. However, from the linguistic point of view, what features does it have, and what kind of functionality can it achieve? From the perspective of social cognition and communication, why people transfer such popular words? What kind of social communication value does it have? These problems have not been discussed specifically.This paper named this special form " Appellation with temporary construct related to event "(ATCE),we applied sociolinguistic method to this paper, in order to describe the phenomenon, explain it form perspective of social cognition and state the communication impact.This paper consists of five chapters, as follows:Chapter one, including the account of study and research background, the corpus of the sources and research value.This section mainly reviews the concept of "appellation" and its classification, the research of nominal reference, and the analysis of word community which refer to persons generated by "Mode of word ". Learn from those studies,this paper will examine the objectas ATCE "temporarily constructed by'Mode of word' which filled in event informations, and can achieve the function of refer people in pragmatics intentions". Besides, we extract the "stability appellation " and "general temporary appellation " as well as the other word community refer to persons which generated by associated" Mode of word" from the former analysis as our compare items for later discussion.Chapter two, gives a grammatical description to ATCE and analyze the pragmatic motives which produces them from a functional point of view.With the phenomenon,ATCE is defined as:the appellation related to specific events, which achieve the function of refer to people by way of temporary constructed with some "mold of word ". The basic form of ATCE is "X-NP", which is a frame construction with both variable constituents but based on the same cognitive mode. "X" which comes from the scene information,is more variable.Meanwhile,"-NP" as a few morphemes refer to person is the constituent restricted the frame,and "X-NP" is a structure with the same grammatical relation and has the same semantics as "Subjective" and "supernormal".Through the discussion of meaning and function of "appellation", we found that ATCE achieve the pragmatic requirements of refer to the only person who exists in a certain event scene by describing a feature of the scene. In this case, for the implicit semantic relations between the constituents of "X-NP" structure,meaning can't be completely interpret until alleged scene context to show the semantic relations. It not only can be achieve the function of refer to certain person, but also can achieve the function of refer to the certain scene which the person in implicitly.Chapter three, explain the social psychology of evidence and interviews on the generation and dissemination of ATCE, trying to explore the factors of social cognition which influence its function.This paper examines that the mode to cognize ATCE led by "social cognitive schema". We found that it achieve "alluding to the event" function in the cognitive process, then the function of refer to certain person will be achieved after cognition solutions.Based on the result of survey for social cognitive in the process of generation and dissemination of ATCE,this paper confirmed that it can achieve "alluding to the event" function in the cognitive processes, its naming highly free and "refer to event" is the major driving factor of its dissemination. We also summarizes the social cognitive factors which influence the function to achieve on the ATCE as "power" and "sustainability" ones,and found the psychological factors affecting reader and namer's ability of social cognition which is respectively "chasing differences" and "looking for breakthrough and restrictions simultaneously".Chapter four, analyses the function of ATCE in the social media under the "micro-communication era" context with examples.Chapter five, summarizes the main points of this drawn and the inadequate in the study.In summary, this paper is a study of ATCE, it gives a more detailed description of "X-NP" mold of word which can construct the study object. From the functional point of view, it gives the pragmatic motive which produce ATCE as the function of refer to certain person. It also gives the cognitive interpretation of "alluding to the event" function for ATCE and confirmed it by social interview, then does a more thorough elaboration on its value in the "micro-communication era" for social value. This paper argues that "Appellation with temporary construct related to event" is a kind of appellation which temporarily constructed by "X-NP", can achieving its " alluding to the event "function in the cognitive process as well as achieving function of refer to certain person after done. The reflects of ATCE for group events which sudden happen and the sentiments of mass emergencies and focus are of great significance for rebuild the "Public Sphere".
