In the judicial practice, eyewitness testimony is one of the most importantevidence. To a large extent, the trial of the case and determine depends on theaccuracy of the eyewitness testimony. In the course of judicial proceedings,eyewitness testimony mainly refers to the statement of the case relevant to the crimethat offered by witness to judiciary and parties. Therefore, eyewitness identification ofthe crime is one of the main contents of statements of the witness. Summary ofprevious studies, we found the factors that influenced eyewitness identificationconcluded estimated variables and system variables. And in judicial system, estimatedvariable was uncontrolled, while as a system variable, the presentation of post-eventinformation that controlled by judicial system was lack of related theory. Based on theeyewitness literature, this experiment was conducted to analysis the influence ofeyewitness identification.The experiment was designed as2(cognitive style: FI, FD)×2(post-eventinformation: misleading information, neutral information) mixed design, in order todiscuss the influence of the two factors to the eyewitness testimony. Study1was inthe condition of violence to analysis the influence of eyewitness identification. Andstudy2was in the condition of non-violence to analysis the influence of eyewitnessidentification.From the analysis and the discussion of the experiments, the conclusions were:(1) Post-event information influenced the result of eyewitness identification.Whether watched the violent movies, or the non-violent movies, the memoryperformance of the subjects which saw misleading information was lower than thesubjects which saw neutral information.(2) In the condition of violence, cognitive style influenced the result ofeyewitness identification. The field-independent subjects’ memory performance washigher than the field-dependence subjects’, while in non-violent condition, it is not.(3) Type of event influenced the result of eyewitness identification. The subject’smemory performance of watching violent films was higher than the others whichwatched non-violent film.
