Although glass and glazed tiles didn't originate in China, the ancient Chinese glazed tiles which have many unique creation in the shape, technology, standardization and usage method are the finest known to the world yet. There are two reasons:on the one hand, low-temperature glazed pottery firing techniques in ancient China is progressive, and on the other hand, ancient art of chinese tiles is developed.This body part consists of four parts, which are described as below:The first part reviews the historical origin of glazed tiles. According to archaeological excavations, from the Northern Wei Dynasty, the Chinese ancient building of palace has started using glazed tiles, through Sui Dynasty, Tang Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty, the types of glazed tiles has increased, and firing technology has matured, there has special kiln firing glazed tile. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the firing glazed tile art has reached its peak. The production of glazed tiles have become standard parts, which are also beginning to take shape the production of glazed tiles. The second part of the analysis of the typology, the author put the Ming Dynasty'glazed tiles as the research object. Because in the Ming Dynasty, glazed tiles developed into its heyday, its production of quantity and quality is more than any dynasty. Official architecture is highly standardized and stereotyped. tile colors and themes are strictly ruled, so the typing of the Ming Dynasty's glazed tiles has great significance. The third part is about the arts techniques of glazed tiles. The author expounds the hardware and development of glazed kilns' arts and techonology mainly from the three parts of glass kilns, glazed tiles of the firing process and the distribution of the main producers of the glazed kilns. According to glazed kilns that have been excavated, just as Nanjing jubaosh an glazed kiln, which represented the structural analysis of a glazed kiln and firing methods. The firing process of glazed tiles include making shape, coloring glazed tiles and firing tiles. According to historical documents and archaeological records, the author sort out the glazed tiles before the Ming Dynasty and the main source of distribution. The fourth part introduced architectural ceremony, Glazed tile has become ritual before the Ming and Qing Dynasty. This part include specific meaning of this ritual from three aspects of the main range of glazed tiles, color grade of glazed tiles,and standards of glazed tiles. The use of glazed tiles is closely linked with the feudal caste system, to some extent, the architectural ceremony of the feudal dynasty has been formed.
