Imposing, Fascinating, And Full Of Feelings And Reasons.

Jia Yi played an important role in Chinese ancient literary history because he was an important politician, writer and thinker in the early Han Dynasty. Born in the transitional period from the pre-Qin literature to Han literature, Jia Yi inherited the excellent heritage of the pre-Qin culture, read many various books extensively, and concerned about politics and current affairs; Moreover, he had a quick mind and knowledgeable romantic temperament. All of these contribute to Jia Yi's characteristics, i.e. he not only always focused on political reality, but also had the sentimental temperament. What is more, these made his proses involved in many aspects of social reality, diversified in emotional expression and style characteristics and had a great influence on the later proses. Taken Jia Yi's proses as the research object and based on the former researches, this paper probes to the origin of charm and artistic characteristics of Jia Yi's prose with reflection on his intelligence temperament and personal life experiences. This paper has three chapters.The first chapter analyses the generation basis of Jia Yi's proses and points out that his prose exsited in the cultural constructive process from Qin Dynasty to the cultural prosperity. As a literati tradition, Jia Yi inherited the pre-Qin characteristics of concerning about politics. However, compared with the scholars in pre-Qin, Jia Yi faced different audiences and the scholars' mentality was also changed, so the lobby of pre-Qin gradually developed into official texts in the early Han Dynasty. From the point of view of his personality and life experiences, Jia Yi began his official career with the identity of a Luo Yang talent and experienced a lot of political twists and turns. Apart from this, this chapter tries to inspect the influence of the different states and experiences on his proses. Then it discusses the causes of his political setback from both the subjective and objective aspects and indicates that the objective reasons are the conflict between his advanced thoughts and the political reality. Whereas, the subjective reasons are his unique temperament and his neglect to the interpersonal relationship.The second chapter explores the theme, emotion and style of Jia Yi's proses. On the basis of the classification of his proses, this paper regards that his prose not only closely relates to the time motif, for they involved political problems in the Han Dynasty, but also extends to some academic themes because of his cultural character and identity of literati. Judging from the emotional form, they can be divided into several groups which are famous for their good momentum, sentiment, and deliberation. Jia Yi also used various affective images to express different emotions. Besides, the variety of theme and emotion makes his proses'style diversified. In a word, the overall style of Jia Yi's proses are imposing, fascinating, and full of feelings and reasons.In the third chapter, it decomposes the artistic performance of Jia Yi's proses from three aspects, i.e. art of composition, expression skills and language arts. With respect to the art of composition, Jia Yi's proses reflect their diversification because the arguments are located in different places in the different proses. And the argument are developed from different aspects such as emotion and reason, and they are good for the article quotations. All of these make his prose full of distinctive characteristics of literati and full-tasting vitality. In addition, Jia Yi employed a lot of expression skills, such as exaggeration, parallelism, dual, contrast and metaphor, to enhance the readability and literariness and to make boring political comments filled with a scholarly fragrance. Referring to language arts, Jia Yi's proses have emotional statements, extreme language, diversified sentence form, visual argument and ingenious word choice, so they have a very strong artistic appeal.
