In the galore and various kinds of children's books, most of them are magnificent and colorful. It is a trend of family education that parents choose and classify the books that their children love and adapt to read according to children's age. It is because children have distinctive characteristics and aesthetic preferences in different ages that they will choose the books autonomously and with stage. Experts attribute this kind of autonomy and stage to children's classification reading. Classification is not only aimed at picture books, bridging books and text books, but also based on aesthetic features in different ages to choose and arrange the pictures and texts. As different children in different ages need different philological nutrition, to the design of binding and layout of children's books, they must be designed on basis of children's physical and mental features in different ages. This is the golden principle which children' educationists and, psychologists and designers of binding and layout of children's books obey. And how to design pictures, color, fonts and materials in children's books according to children's characteristics of aesthetics needs designers master children's characteristics in different ages. That is to say, only when designers think from children's points of view and feel children's mind, and learn from experience and reflect on inadequate, can they design the books they love and adapt.Chapter One of this thesis is introduction, which gives the related background of binding and layout of children's book. Also the boundaries of related terms are explained in this chapter. Through the study of children's aesthetic mentality, the important role of binding and layout of children's book in education, country development and society improvement is summarized. Chapter Two is the literature review. It presents related researches at home and broad, which include definitions of binding and layout as well as the situation of binding and layout. By holding interviews and questionnaires, the questions proposed can be answered in this chapter. Then the distinctions and features of age classification can be summarized on basis of the studies on formats, book covers, fonts, colors, pictures and materials. At last, children's textbooks are analyzed. Chapter Three gives the comparison and analysis of outstanding works at home and abroad, find children's aesthetic preferences in these cases, and summarize the experience and inadequate. Chapter Four is about the analysis of children's books in medium and then looks forward to the future of binding and layout of children's books. At last, this thesis solves and summarizes the problems confronted during the analysis.
