Research On The Design Of New Works Of Ancient Books

The term "Redesign of classic books" is a cultural phenomenon that has appeared in the field of book publishing in recent years.In the context of the development of economic and cultural globalization,every country and nation is tracing back and searching for a path that is its own cultural continuation,and the field of book design,which is the closest to ideological and cultural exchanges,should become a huge testing ground.The ancient books have withstood the test of time and practice and are highly condensed and factual.The design form of the ancient books is a reflection of the aesthetic taste and cultural views of the ancients.In the current process of redesigning the content of classic books and the imitation and reconstruction of classic book forms,a large number of excellent design works have emerged,including many award-winning works of "the most beautiful book in the world" and "the most beautiful book in China".These works trace the cultural roots of modern people from a visual point of view and look for the design language belonging to their own nation.This article takes the award-winning design works with the theme of redesign of classic books in recent years and the outstanding student works in the subject study of the redesign of Compendium of Materia Medica of Nanjing University of the Arts as the case study,analyzing and summarizing from several design levels of the layout of the book,the layout structure,illustrations,fonts,reading process and materials and craftsmanship,using modern and contemporary design concepts and design methods to discuss how designers can use the decoration of ancient books to creatively embezzle,rewrite,transfer and apply ancient book binding styles in the redesign of ancient books or the design of books on traditional cultural topics.Many design details such as font selection,layout design,binding method and paper application make the book look more antique.In the last chapter,the Compendium of Materia Medica was designed as the research object for specific analysis,analyzing the motivation of updating classic books from the context of the version,analyzing its content structure and constructing a new reading experience of Compendium of Materia Medica and form graduation design from the aspects of hierarchical structure of text information,illustrations,colors,use of information symbols and form of book formation.
