Zhang Jian is a creative writer of opera in Qing Dynasty. Because of the high success in art, his famous work Yu Yan Tang Si Zhong Qu, has been highly appreciated by people, and has been adapted and performed in the theater several times. In this paper, Zhang Jian's life and his literary works are introduced in detail, trying to demonstrate Zhang Jian's abundant works in his poor and lonely life. The paper focuses on analyzing the emotional connotation of Yu Yan Tang Si Zhong Qu, that is a concept transforming from "feelings over reasoning" to "the reconciliation between feelings and reasoning", and finally to "reasoning governing feelings". Besides, the paper discusses the thoughts of the officials' assistants in ancient China, presented in Zhang Jian's plays, and analyzes the artistic features of Yu Yan Tang Si Zhong Qu from four aspects, including the creation principle, plot sekime, language arts and the effect of stage performance.
