Study On The Thoughts And Cultural Values In Works Of Zhong Yun-fang's Zhenzhentang

Zhong Yun-Fang,with the good fame of"Lian Sheng",is a cultural celebrity in the late period of Qing dynasty. He is famous for cultural figures of Chinese history, good at poems, lyrics, and particularly antithetical couplet. Since zhenzhentang has been listed as the 11th five-year key research topic of philosophy and social sciences in Chongqing; some research achievements has been made in the academic community. However, the scope of the study is mainly on couplets, poems, essays and operas. There is no comprehensive and systematic study on Zhung Yun-fang yet. This paper aims to make some systematic study about this field and try to make a difference.This paper consists of five parts, and tries to make a systematic analysis of Zhong Yun-Fang's art and literary thoughts.Firstly, analyze the social background and external environment of Qing dynasty, from the points of the transformation of modern Chinese society, Chongqing's evolution as an inland city, and Western Learning and Jiangjin's humanistic environment.Secondly, introduce Zhong Yun-fang's life and its influence on his literary art and thought. This part is the logical foundation of the whole paper. Zhong Yun-fang went through four development processes in his life, from pure scholar by traditional imperial examination, to giving up the examination but saving the world with education, to criticizing the reality , benefiting the country, learning of from Western and exploring the road of salvation, and finally to the thought"Modernization."Thirdly, analyze the characteristics of couplets, prose, poetry, and dramas, then make a summary of Zhong's art of literary achievements. One first owns rich knowledge and good personality then makes art creation. The development of his thought determines the content of literary and artistic creation. Although the emphasis of this section is very much on his"work", but we can't just focus on his work alone, a deep understanding of Zhong's wisdom and knowledge is essential and necessary.Fourthly, explore the ideological content of Zhong Yun-fang's art. This is the key section of the paper. Based on a deep understanding of these works, analyze and reveal Zhong's literary thought. Zhong Yun-fang fight with his pen, he is not only an"antithetical couplet god", but also a man with patriotic spirit and the ideal of"revitalization of the world, re-energized civilization". He is more like a warrior against feudalism and imperialism and a pioneer of modern education and Western learning. He is the typical intellectual in mainland China in the course of Modernization.Finally, summarize his artistic thoughts reasonably and dialectically.
