In this thesis, all the investigative results are drawn by the investigative and statistical methods, and shown by lots of chats. In this study, the Chinese neologisms in The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary (the supplement edition 2002) and The Selection of Chinese Neologisms in 2006 published by Ministry of Education are the templates. This study consists of four main contents:the acquisition of Chinese native speakers, the acquisitive situation and approaches of the intermediate and advanced learners of Chinese, the selection of Chinese neologisms in Chinese lexical syllabus and in textbooks. At last, some suggestions about teaching methods are provided in this thesis. The conclusions we can get from the study:1. The period of residence influences the amounts of Chinese neologisms acquired by foreign learners of Chinese. The longer foreign learners reside in China, the more Chinese neologisms can be acquired. But the amounts of Chinese neologisms acquired will not change a lot, if foreign learners reside in China over a certain years.2. The semantic types of Chinese neologisms are influenced by the different purposes of Chinese study.3. For foreign learners of Chinese, the school teaching should be the main approach of the Chinese neologisms acquisition. But the conclusion of the study shows the deficiency in the school teaching.4. The amounts of Chinese neologisms in Chinese lexical syllabus and in textbooks are too small and should be improved. And different semantic types and length of Chinese neologisms should be selected into Chinese lexical syllabus and textbooks.5. In this thesis, some methods are listed to make foreign learners of Chinese to understand and handle more Chinese neologisms, such as regularly revising Chinese lexical syllabus, editing and renewing textbooks, and launching elective courses and lectures. At the same time, some teaching methods are suggested. |
