Study Of Democracy In Ancient Greece

About 2500 years ago,there was an amazing area of human advanced form of civilization has been emerged in Greek peninsula in the Aegean and Asia Minor---it is democracy.It was based on the special system and culture, Athens was the typical case.Democracy of Athens had its own achievement during the reform of Solon and Clisthenes to Pericles' time.Its circumstance,including freedom and opening up,promoted the creativity of Athens.It arrived at the top of human ancient civilization,which had never been happend before.However,the democracy was a flash in the pan.At first,I will summarize the development of Athens'democracy in this paper;then analysis its basic features individually,which involved popular sovereignty,direct democracy,administration according to law and democratic supervision;after that, it is the depth study of classical Greek thinkers' main attitude and reflection of the democracy,in order to indicate the inherent contradictions and puzzledoms;at last,I will compare the ancient Greek democracy with the modern system on democray,freedom and equality,and then we can get a more comprehensive understanding of democracy.
